University Studies Curriculum Committee

Committee Charge

The University Studies Curriculum Committee oversees courses and programs under the purview of University Studies and transition curriculum at Sonoma State. Functions include but are not limited to: 

  1. Review and recommend approval or disapproval of new, or modified courses with transition curriculum.
  2. Assess, develop, and modify transition standards as needed.
  3. Discuss and recommend approval or disapproval of proposals under the purview of University Studies, including but not limited to course proposals, program changes, addition and deletion of courses and programs, program review, and general policies with impact on instruction and learning. 
  4. Advise Educational Policies Committee on approval or disapproval of curricular changes, included and not limited to course proposals, program changes, and addition and deletion of courses and programs as needed.
  5. Support interdisciplinary initiatives across Sonoma State University.

Membership

Voting Members

  • One faculty member, elected for a three year term by the Colleges of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts; Science, Technology, and Business; Education, Counseling and Ethnic Studies; and the Library. It is recommended that faculty members have experience teaching or coordinating First Year Experience (FYE) and/or Second Year Experience (SYE) courses and programs (e.g. First Year Learning Communities (FLCs)). 
  • One peer mentor student representative, appointed for a one year term. 
  • One at-large representative. 
  • First and Second Year Coordinator.
